It was championship night for the Qwick Wick Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers. The final round. Round #15 of the 2023 race season took place this past Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario. There were 4 drivers mathematically still in contention to take home the championship trophy. Ultimately, 2 drivers were going head to head to see who would take home the trophy.

Heat races were full of action with both front runners in the championship pulling away and dominating by half a track each. Cory Whittam (55) took HMCW Chassis heat race #1 with Daniel Hawn (42) claiming heat race #2. Dash for Cash was on the card again with a 4 lap dash with 4 cars for some cold, hard cash brought to you by Larry Wilson of Larry’s Small Engines of Orangeville. It was the always smiling Bob Bailey taking the win after two cars wrecked on the start. Both cars were able to start the feature race. Thank you Larry Wilson for supporting this race week in, and week out.

A strong 17 car field too the green flag in the last feature race of the season. Mike Westwood (91) and rookie of the year winner Sherri Hogan (74x) led the field to the green flag. Hogan claimed the lead on the outside. Caution flew on lap 2 for Jaden Riddell (13) hitting the turn 3 wall. The restart saw Hogan claim the lead again, but not for long as a single spin from the #48 car brought out the second caution. Three wide on the restart for the lead with championship chaser of Whittam going to the bottom and claiming the lead. Caution flew again for a spin from Paul Jorgensen (68). Whittam had some company on the restart with championship leader Hawn. This battle would have to wait as there was trouble into turn 3 with Westwood and Dominique Smith (49) getting together, both hitting the wall. Whittam blistered out to the lead. The race finally got started with some clean, green flag laps. The rest of the race would go green to checkers until the last lap with the #05 machine and #20 machine of Tyler Sagan spinning in turn 4. The win would go to Whittam with Hawn and Jeff Blackburn (7) on the podium.

Officially, the #42 car of Daniel Hawn took his first championship with the Can-Am Midgets. It was a very close one with Whittam, but Hawn came out on top. The Qwick Wick Can-Am Midgets would like to congratulate Daniel Hawn and the #42 crew for an amazing year. Congratulations on your tour championship. HMCW Chassis has got a lot of the cars and drivers out to join us each week. Keep up the good work and go for back to back next year. Congratulations!

All of the drivers, crews, and officials would like to thank all of the tracks for their hospitality and coming to let us race, our sponsors for continuing to support this amazing club, and to our fans, for coming out to watch us put on a show week in and week out all across Ontario.
