The Qwick Wick Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers rolled into Sauble Speedway in Hepworth, Ontario Saturday for the boss at the beach weekend and for their first night of their last double header weekend of 2021.
Heat #1 presented by HMCW (Hawn Motorsports Chassis Works) got under way with Luc Munsie (26) and Craig Pitchell (6) bringing the field to green. David Miller (11) took the lead on lap 1 and never looked back as the race went green to checkered with Miller winning heat #1.
Heat #2 saw Paul Harrison (29) and Jeff Blackburn (7) take the green flag side by side. This heat went green to checkered as well with Blackburn on top taking the checkered flag in HMCW victory lane!
The 25-lap feature was up next with rain in the area. The quick TQ midgets were let loose with Luc Munsie (26) and Paul Harrison (29) leading the 13 car field to green. Brody Rickwood (83) with engine issues, pulled of after lap 1. The race went green for 10 laps before caution flew for rain drops in the air. After the thumbs up from all drivers to director Terry Watts, the midgets went back to green with Jeff Blackburn (7) and David Miller (11) leading the field. Nice, tight racing at the front with the #55 of Cory Whittam running third and reeling the top 2 cars in. Whittam made his move on lap 24, taking both drivers in one lap to take the lead. Cory took the checkered flag getting redemption after dominating the race last time the midgets visited Sauble Speedway before running out of fuel. Cory claimed his first surfboard trophy at the beach! Blackburn (7), Darren Mclennan (2), Daniel Hawn (42), and David Miller (11) round out your top 5. Smith (49), Harrison (29), Riddell (13), Munsie (26), Coleman (44), Pitchell (6), Bailey (46), and Rickwood (83) round out the finishing order.
