Everyone around the racing community dreads this time of year. The cold, the snow, the blues. That is called, the off-season. The past has history of being able to get your racing fix in during the winter months. Professional racing, re runs. The bigger stock cars started doing week long events down south. The past few years, there have been events created for our types of cars. The Mighty TQ Midgets out of New York run by Jim Smith, have made a series in Florida to get out of the cold.
The Winter Showdown Series takes place at Auburndale Speedway in Florida every February. Put on by the Mighty TQ Midgets, drivers from the northern states and Canada race down to Florida for some fun, and some racing! Our champion, Daniel Hawn in the #42 car along with Darren McLennan (78), James Stanley (57), Richard Woodland (84), and Cory Whittam (55) will be representing Canada/Can-Am Midgets this year.
The event is set to have a practice on February 2nd and 3rd (for a fee). Open practice is set for February 4th. Race days are set for February 5th, 6th, and 7th. Full event schedule can be seen on the Mighty TQ Midgets page and the Showdown Series page.
Good luck to all of the drivers and crews. Bring home that trophy to Canada!
