The drivers, crews, officials, friends and family all came out to celebrate the 2022 Can-Am Midget series racing season this past Saturday night. The postponed event due to a heating issue, was hosted at the Courtyard by Marriott on Upper James Street in Hamilton, Ontario on February 25th. The night started with cocktails and some long overdue catching up, and then some awesome food as prepped by the amazing staff.
As always, Terry Watts MC’d the evening. Some introductions, facts and of course, some jokes before the long awaited awards were handed out. The top 10 in the final points standings were awarded their custom made sweaters, payouts and a memorable banner to hang with their trophies in the shop. Awards were handed out for Best Appearing Car which was the #53 of James Stanley with his nice piece. Stanley also took home Rookie of the Year honors with his 5th place in the final standings. Most Improved Driver went to the #11 car of David Miller with his outstanding races and finishes this season. Sportsman of the Year was presented by the legend Albert Banyard went to Bob Bailey of the #46 car.
Official of the Year went to Chip Whittam for his amazing work and dedication throughout the 2022 season and thank you to the Whittam family for providing another ATV for help with on track incidents. Cory Whittam in the #55 car took home the Mechanic of the Year with his hard work not only on his own championship winning car, but also his dedication to help everyone and anyone if they needed help. Along with that award, Cory was also officially crowned the 2022 Qwick Wick Can-Am Midget series presented by Miller Office Trailers CHAMPION! Congratulations to Cory and all of the #55 crew and family on their awesome achievement!
The night then continued on with some dancing, music, laughs and some amazing memories. We want to congratulate all of the 2022 award winners.
