The Qwick Wick Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers ended up having a few weeks off due to a rain out last Saturday night out at Sunset Speedway. While teams were able to work away at their cars and get the setup they need, this made one less race for the top contenders in the championship to make gains towards the trophy. The TQ Midgets rolled into Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario for round #14 of the 2024 season. On tap, with many other series including the Ontario Sportsman.
Heat race #1 was won by the #13 car of Jaden Riddell while heat race #2 was won by Cory Whittam (55), where Whittam returned to his own car. A Dash for Cash race was set up for this week with Mike Westwood (91) taking the checkered flag and some cold, hard cash. Thank you to Larry’s Small Engines of Orangeville for the cash for these 4 drivers and their continued support!
13 cars were on hand to start the 25-lap feature event. Some issues for the Dash for Cash winner of Westwood as a mechanical failure ended his night wit the car in the wall. While the headline is talking about a first win, there were other woes in the night. Mainly, not the greatest nights of all for our championship contenders. Events throughout the feature race had our contenders in the mid pack. At the front of the field, it was a perfect night for the #13 car. A clean sweep for Jaden Riddell and the Paul Gee owned machine. Riddell crossed the finish line first and took the checkered flag for his very first feature win with the Can-Am Midgets. Whittam and Jeff Blackburn (7) joined him on the podium in Miller Office Trailers victory lane.
The club is off for close to a month in preparation for the season finale race to crown a champion. Round #15 of the 2024 season will see us back at Flamboro Speedway on September 21st to finish out the year and to crown ourselves a champion. Stay tuned for updates.
