The Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers were back in action this past Saturday after a cancellation at Grand Bend caused a three week break. The TQ Midgets rolled into Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario for Round #7 of the 2026 season.

Teams dialed in their cars after a hiatus, getting ready to do battle. Before the evenings events, drivers, crews, officials all got together on the front stretch in front of the flag stand for a moment of silence for Doug MacLean who had passed away a week prior doing what he loved. Heat races were stacked with previous drivers making their return to the Can-Am Midgets. David Miller in the #11 car made his return after two race being away racing go karts. 2022 series champion Cory Whittam dusted his 55 car off to come have some fun. Whittam has been racing crate sprint cars at Ohsweken and had a week off. Heat race 1 winner was Adam Racine (05) and current point leader James Stanley (57) won heat race 2.

Flamboro Speedway owners and staff had a track walk open to everyone at intermission. All were welcome to walk the track in honor of Doug MacLean and to show respect to a Flamboro legend. The Can-Am Midgets wanted to pay their own respects with our 4 wide salute to the fans with the missing man formation in tribute to Doug MacLean.

Sherri Hogan (74x) and Tyler Cullen (43) led the field to the green flag after Dominique Smith took her 49 car to the pits with a mechanical failure. Smith was set to start on the outside pole position for the 25 lap feature race. Side by side into turn 1 with Racine making a charge and making it 3 wide out of turn 2. The 05 car thought better of it and backed out of the battle into turn 3. Racine took his shot and took the race lead out of turn 4. Andrew Whelen in the #5 car continued his terrible year, pulling off the track with an issue. The crew went to work and got him back out on lap 10, but Whelan pulled off with the same issue. Lap 11 saw some action with both Westwood teammates having issues. Hogan in the #74x car slowed on the front stretch and the #91 car of Mike Westwood spinning in turn 2 almost turning over on his wing, but was able to save the car. The restart saw some action with Darren McLennan right on the back tail tank of Racine. McLennan would claim the lead on lap 14 and power through to his first win of the 2026 season. Point leader Stanley along with Jeff Blackburn (7) finished on the podium.

Adam Racine, Cory Whittam, Tyler Cullen, David Miller, Sherri Hogan, Mike Westwood, Larry Lawson (08), Alex Connell (96) and Andrew Whelan finished out the running order.

Thank you to Flamboro Speedway for the great night and allowing us to join them in honoring Doug MacLean with so many of us in our racing club over the years have known Doug. Thank you.
