We were back to back at Sauble Speedway in Hepworth, Ontario bringing race #2 of our double header weekend this past Sunday.

Racing began at 7 p.m. after opening ceremonies with the QwickWick Can-Am Midget series presented by Miller Office Trailers kicking things off for the track with heat #1. It was Craig Pitchell in the #6 car alongside Luc Munsie (26) on the front row to the green flag. It was Jeff Blackburn (7) jumping into the lead coming out of turn two down the back stretch before troubles for the #6 car of Pitchell bringing out the caution on lap #2. The field went back to green with Blackburn leading Darren Mclennan (2). Blackburn didn’t look back winning heat #1 of the night.

Heat #2 took to the track next with Brody Rickwood (83) and Daniel Hawn (42) leading the field to green from the front row. David Miller jumped out to the lead after lap #1 with Dominque Smith in toe behind him. This race going caution free, Miller pulled away and easily pulled off the win in heat #2.

The TQ Midget drivers had sometime again to work on their cars to make any adjustments before their 25-lap feature event as other classes completed their respective races in between. Our 13 car field came out and performed their signature 4 wide salute to their amazing fans that were in attendance before letting loose. It was Brody Rickwood in the #83 car starting first with Daniel Hawn (42) starting 2nd. The cars soared into turn #1 with Hawn taking the lead and never looked back. It didn’t come easy though with a hard charging David Miller (11) trying to pass Hawn for the lead for about 8-9 laps. Hawn held his own with a caution free race before coming to the white flag, the only caution flew for rookie contender Mike Hryniuk in the #55 Whittam Racing machine when he got spun coming off turn #4. The field lined back up single file for the restart with Daniel Hawn holding on and taking his first checkered flag with the QwickWick Can-Am Midgets. Second was Jeff Blackburn (7) and third Brody Rickwood (83) for his first career podium finish.
