The Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers were at Sauble Speedway in Hepworth, Ontario for their second and final double header weekend of the 2025 season. Rounds 10 and 11 were on deck and with two races on the weekend, teams had to be dialed in and ready to do battle if they wanted to take a checkered flag.
Night #1 got under
way with Adam Racine in the #05, driving for Larry Wilson and making his return to the TQ Midgets in 2025, winning heat race #1. Darren McLennan in the #78 car getting back on top after a hard night on the dirt racing side, taking heat race #2.
The feature race brought some hard racing between the top drivers of the championship. With the handicap system used in the series, the championship contenders would have to come from mid to back of the pack. With some earl cautions, the field settled down and settled in to run some consistent green flag laps. Point leader, Daniel Hawn in the #42 car was able to take the checkered flag and win on night #1. Darren McLennan in the #78 car finished second and Jaden Riddell in the #13 car finished third rounding out the podium finishes.
Night #2 from Sunday night, had everyone on reset with a hard felt corn roast the night before with the club around the campground. 14 cars on the property to do battle for round #11. Jeff Blackburn in the #7 car won heat race #1 after a long, hard night the evening before. Heat race #2 finished with Darren McLennan (78) taking the checkered flag. Dash for Cash race was set for night #2 with four cars set for four laps. No points, no advantages, just some cash for the winner. Mike Westwood driving the #84 car from Richard Woodland after some misfire issues with his engine, took the checkered flag (and cash). Thank you to Larry’s Small Engines of Orangeville for their continued and combined support of this race throughout the 2025 season.
Feature action had a mix up of drivers throughout the field. Another night full of very early cautions had some drivers having to come through the field from the back of the pack. James Stanley in the #57 car blasted to the lead and got his first victory of the 2025 season. Stanley fought engine issues all day and has fought some handling issues all season long. Both of those were not the case Sunday night and claims victory at the beach. Darren McLennan (78) and Daniel Hawn (42) finish second and third, respectively, to round out the podium finishes.
The Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers have a quick turn around and are back in action this coming Saturday, August 9th. Their second visit to Grand Bend Speedway in Grand Bend, Ontario is set. First race got rained out and would love round #12 to take place at the 1/4 mile bullring.
