The Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers had a full schedule this Canada Day long weekend. Their first double header weekend of the 2025 season took place at Sauble Speedway in Hepworth, Ontario. Rounds 6 and 7 were on tap this past Saturday and Sunday. Daniel Hawn was the man to beat going into the weekend with not only leading the championship standings, but winning the last three consecutive feature races at Peterborough, Sunset, and Flamboro.
The first night saw 14 cars make the trip with multiple race winner Adrian Stahle making his return to the series driving the #24 car owned by Larry Wilson. Stahle has been racing out at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday nights in the crate sprint cars the past few years. Heat race 1 saw Hawn continuing his streak taking the checkered flag with James Stanley (57) taking heat race 2. A Dash for Cash race was set up for this event. Four cars, four laps…all battling for some cold, hard cash. Sherri Hogan (74) parks it in victory lane and takes home some extra cash. Thank you to Larry’s Small Engines of Orangeville for their support in this race. Thank you to Larry as well for providing a couple of cars in our club. The 05 bringing 2017 series champion, Adam Racine back along with some new drivers/past drivers in the #24 car week in and week out.
Feature race up next. All 14 drivers were set for 25 green flag laps. Jeff Blackburn (7) and Stanley started on the front row, leading 
the field to green. With Hawn starting in the mid field, Blackburn wanted to get out front to run away, being a runner in the championship race. This was not the case, with Hawn charging through the field to take the lead. Not only the lead, but his fourth consecutive feature race in a row extended his championship points lead. Stanley and Darren McLennan (78) finished on the podium.
Night #2 had the same cars in the pit area. 13 cars started the night with the #8 car of Mike Westwood attempting to practice, but unfortunately able to start to do an illness. Night #2 also had the same slate of races on tap including the Dash for Cash. Heat race 1 was taken by Dominique Smith (49) while heat race 2 was won by point leader, Daniel Hawn. Dash for Cash winn
er saw newcomer, Jake Cowden take the victory in the #24 car. Night #2 Dash for Cash was sponsored by BW Towing.
Feature race saw another 25 laps on the board. The two ladies representing the TQ midget club started on the front row. Sherri Hogan (74) and Dominique Smith (49) sped to the start/finish line to bring the field to green. Again, point leader Hawn had a far way to go to win a fifth in a row, with starting in the mid field. The championship contenders were starting all over the starting grid. The best of the top runners was Blackburn starting in third. This would elevate him to benefit the #7 car as Blackburn would hoist the checkered flag on top of his car with Hawn and Smith finishing on the podium.
The Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers have a well deserved week off before their next race. Round #8 is set for July 12th for the clubs’ first visit to Grand Bend Speedway in 2025.
