The Qwick Wick Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers rolled into Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario for the second to last race of the 2023 season. It is hard to believe, the race season is almost over! It was Round #14 set at the long time running track.

13 cars were on the property with rain threatening skies in the area. There were a few delays throughout the night with mother nature, but koodos to all the staff at Flamboro for keeping the track in shape after the rain, and able to get all the races in!

HMCW Chassis heat races were first with the two top runners in the point standings taking victory, keeping each other honest in the hunt for the championship. Cory Whittam in the #55 car claimed heat race #1 and Daniel Hawn in the #42 parked it in HMCW Chassis victory lane for heat race #2. With a short rain delay, action was back on track with the Dash for Cash presented by Larry’s Small Engines of Orangeville. Mike Westwood in the #91 car took the checkered flag and some cold hard cash. Thank you to Larry for your continued support of this race!

Green flag flew for the 25-lap feature event with Jody Bound, in a different car this week (48) and Andrew Whelan (5) on the front row. Clean and green start before the #7 car of Jeff Blackburn spun on his own on lap 3. Restart saw Hawn claim the lead from Whittam. Paul Jorgensen (68) and Whelan made contact on track bringing out a caution. Jorgensen was out for the night and Whelan was able to continue after changing a flat tire. Whelan would end his race later on lap 15. Tyler Sagan in the #20 spun to the infield on lap 13, but no caution flew. With the top contenders chasing each other for the race lead, the #57 car of James Stanley ended his race on lap 21. Stanley had a rough night with breaking something in the front end in his heat race. Hawn took the lead on lap 5 from Whittam and never looked back, claiming his third victory in a row. Whittam and Blackburn finished on the podium after an early spin. Westwood, Bound, Sherri Hogan (74x), Roberto Polillo Jr. (53), Bob Bailey (15), Stanley, Sagan, Whelan, Jorgensen, Cassidy March (81) finished out the finishing order.

The TQ midgets would like to thank Flamboro Speedway and their staff on their hard work to get the track race ready again throughout the many rain delays. The Can-Am Midgets are off for a few weeks before their last race of the season on September 23rd back at Flamboro Speedway.
