In the racing world, there isn’t much to do in the off-season. Professional racing ends, and snow comes. Drivers and crews work on their cars, and prep them for the next season. In the TQ world, indoor racing happens as well come the new year. Specifically, the outdoor crew, are headed south!

The Showdown Series event down at Auburndale Speedway in Florida takes place next week, February 3-8. This week long event includes many series including modifieds, bandoleros, legend cars along with the TQ Midgets. Jimmy Smith and the Mighty TQ Midgets from New York visited the track to participate in the Showdown Series in 2024, and have been asked back again. The event allows the series’ cars, Can-Am Midget cars, along with the East Coast TQ Series and any local Florida drivers as well.

4-5 drivers from our own Can-Am club are set to head south to try to beat the best in the TQ world. 3 practice days are set up from Monday to Wednesday along with 3 race days from Thursday to Saturday. Jimmy has recently set up each race night to be a memorial night for 3 great TQ pioneers who have passed away over the past couple of months. Thursday will be our very own, Albert Banyard, Friday will be Charlie Dirosa from the NYPA (now known as the Mighty Midgets), and Saturday will be John Casey from Casey’s. All to have a small video presented live on the stream along with possibly an interview from their respected drivers from their club. Thank you to Jimmy for setting this up.

All of the race information, times, location, and where you can watch live can be found on the Mighty TQ Midgets facebook page.
