The Qwick Wick Can-Am Midgets presented by Miller Office Trailers were back in action this past Saturday at Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario. This was their second visit of 2021 to the 1/3 mile track. It was beautiful weather but very hot with the humidity!

After a couple rounds of practice, heat race #1 sponsored by HMCW (Hawn Motorsports Chassis Works) got underway with last week’s winner Cory Whittam (55) battling hard with Paul Harrison in the #29 machine on the start with Whittam taking the lead on the outside. Heat #1 was adventurous with Mike Coleman (44) spinning in turn 4 with Jaden Riddel (13) taking a little ride over his wheel, but both were able to continue on. The restart had a good couple of green flag laps before Coleman spins in turn 3 bringing out the second caution. Whittam soared back into the lead with the checkered flag in sight but caution flew once again for the #13 TQ midget of Riddel spinning in turn 4. Whittam went on to win the race on a green/white 1-lap finish.

Heat #2 had Luc Munsie (26) and Cassidy March (81) on the front row. This HMCW heat race went green to checkers with no incidents. It was Darren Mclennan (2) taking the heat #2 win.

The drivers had a good break to fix any handling issues they might of had with their cars with other features and spectator races back at Flamboro. Paul Harrison (29) and Jeff Blackburn (7) led the 15 car field to green for their 25-lap feature race. It was Harrison that was able to get the jump on Blackburn and take the lead after lap #1. That was short lived with the hard charging TQ midget of Darren Mclennan (2) taking the lead from Harrison on lap #3. The quick TQ midgets went green for 10 laps before the #13 car of Jaden Riddel spun in turn 4. The restart had Mclennan and Blackburn side by side for the lead. Mclennan was out front for many laps before Brody Rickwood (83) caught him on lap 23 and passed for the lead. Rickwood started to pull away before Riddel went for a spin with about 2 laps to go. Rickwood had to have the restart of his life. He did. Brody soared to the lead and took his first checkered flag with the Qwick Wick Can Am Midgets! Mclennan (2), Whittam (55), Blackburn (7), and Daniel Hawn (42) rounded out the top 5. Smith (49), Miller (11), Harrison (29), Jorgensen (68), March (81), Pitchell (6), Riddel (13), Coleman (44), Bailey (46) was your finishing order with Munsie (26) out on lap 14 with suspension issues.
