Bois Rebounds
After Rocky Start to Season
After a disappointing start to the 2009 Lucas Oil Can-Am
Midget series, defending Champion, Daniel Bois, took the checkered flag at Grand
Bend Speedway this past Saturday. Bois struggled with electrical problems during
his heat, but with the help of his veteran team, got the car back in shape for
the feature event. Veteran driver and current 2009 Championship points leader,
James Gray, fought his way through the field, coming from mid-pack, quickly
finding himself behind Bois battling for the win. A late caution set the Lucas
Oil Can-Am Midgets up for a green, white, checkered finish that was sure to
please as Bois, Gray and Neely fought to the end, while Todd Cresswell and Wayne
Turnbull rounded out the top five. The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget drivers would
like to thank all of the track officials for their rapid response and
continuously putting themselves in harms way for the safety of the drivers and
the love of the sport.

Neely Takes
Checkered at Peterborough Speedway
After a month off the race track, the Lucas Oil Can-Am midget
drivers were anxious to get back on the track and truly get the 2009 season
underway. Rob Neely, who started the race mid-pack, fought his way to the front
to take the checkered flag at Peterborough Speedway this past weekend. Neely had
started the race in 8th position and found his way to 2nd by lap 8. Daniel Bois
had taken the lead early in the race and held on until lap 12 when he came
across water on the track, putting his car in the wall and taking him out of the
race. Current points leader, James Gray, had a great run, also coming through
the field quickly, finding himself in 2nd position, behind Neely. Neely held
Gray off for the remainder of the race to take the checkered flag, while Craig
Mackereth, Jody Bound and Corey Moesker rounded out the top five.
The Lucas Oil Can-Am midget drivers would like to thank all of their fans for
their continued support and invite everyone out to Flamboro Speedway on June
20th for their next event.

Gray Takes Checkered At Sauble Speedway
Despite Saturdays race being cancelled due to weather, James
Gray was more than pleased with his car on Sunday evening as his Lucas Oil
Can-Am Midget took the checkered flag at Sauble Speedway. Gray had dominated in
his heat and continued to do so during the feature race, coming from 8th
position to take the lead. Rob Neely followed close behind taking the checkers
right behind Gray to take second position. Greg Smulders fell back a position
but still finished on the podium, while Darren McLennan and Mack DeMan rounded
out the top five. We see a lot of car designs this year as many drivers
refreshed their cars for the exciting season ahead.
Feature winner,
Gray, was very excited after the race as he thanked his crew for all of their
help in building a new car this past winter that will clearly be a strong
competitor all season. Gray is grateful for the support of his team and "proud
that all of their hard work paid off". The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets also got to
welcome six rookie drivers to the club this season and as we wish all drivers
and their teams the best of luck, this season is sure to be an exciting one.
