ROB NEELY CLAIMS 2nd WIN OF 2007 AT GRAND BEND SPEEDWAY

On their 1st of 2 stops to the newly renovated Grand Bend Speedway Lucas Oil Can Am Midget driver Rob Neely would start 8th and by lap 25 had captured his 2nd win of 2007.

In the 5th race of the season, the Lucas Oil Can Am Midgets would take their show to the newly renovated Grand Bend Speedway.  After driver introductions were complete, Stefan Haas, in the #1 Roger Riberdy machine, would pace the 17 car field to the green flag.  Haas took the lead from the outside pole sitter Harvey Walsh in the #49 machine.  Lap 3 saw the Lucas Smith in the #94 bounce off the wall coming out of corner 4, Smith would then pull off the track ending his night.  Haas would continue to lead for 8 circuits when Neely would make a pass on him that would later prove to be the winning move.  James Gray in the #82 and Todd Creswell, last weeks winner, in the #3 TQ started coming up through the field fast.  The only caution of the night would be seen on lap 16 for a spin by the #20 of Daniel Bois.  Bois was able to continue at the rear of the field.  On the restart it was Neely in the lead, followed by Cresswell, Gray, rookie Alison Macleod in the #4 and pole sitter Haas had settled into 5th.  The top 5 continued in that order until the double checkers waved declaring Neely the winner.  This is Neely’s 2nd win of 2007 and in the winners circle he thanked his car owner Ken Lorenz and other members of the club that helped him set the car up to capture the win.  The Lucas Oil Can Am Midgets next stop is at Sunset Speedway June 30th for their 3rd annual Canadian Open.  With $900 to win on the line it will be sure to be an exciting event!!!!!
