After whats been a very wet summer to say the least, the drivers and teams of the Can-Am Midgets were ready to finally get back to racing last night at Peterborough Speedway.

The first feature of the night saw #94 Ryan Fraser and #49 Dominique Smith lead the field to the green flag. The racing was fast and intense, but the first caution of the night came out on lap 11 when Adrian Stahle’s #50 car came to a stop with a flat left front tire in turns 1 and 2. #2 Steve Murdock made his way up to the second position and would line up beside Ryan Fraser on the restart. Shortly thereafter, the #29 of rookie contender Paul Harrison was spun around on the front straightaway, bringing out the second yellow flag of the event. The field slowed for the final time on lap 14 when the #11 David Miller and #26 of Luc Munsie tangled in turn 1. Both drivers were ok, but retired from the race due to damaged vehicles. The race remained caution free for the remaining 11 laps as Ryan Fraser pulled away from the rest of the field to win his 2nd A-Feature of the year. Dominique Smith finished 2nd and Steve Murdock took 3rd.

After a brief intermission for kids barrel races, where driver Brandon Hauck gave away some t-shirts to some lucky fans, the drivers were set for Feature #2.

Jeff Blackburn in his newly prepared #7 would take the pole position, with #53 Brandon Hauck making up the front row. The #12 of Darren Dryden who started 4th, slipped himself into the lead by on lap 2. The yellow, and then red flag brought the field to a halt for a scary crash on the back straightaway involving #50 Adrian Stahle and the #91 of Brandon Zavarella. Both drivers were disqualified during the incident, when tempers began to flare. Thankfully both drivers were ok, as the race resumed once again on lap 2 with Darren Dryden and Brandon Hauck leading the field back to the restart. Dryden seemed to have the fields number in Feature #2 pulling away and cruising home for the victory. Ryan Fraser finished 2nd and Brandon Hauck came home 3rd.

“Overall a good day in the #12 Xpert Transmission Racing Can-Am Midget and we’re glad we took home the second Feature win with a strong lead. We struggled in practice, and ran decent in the first Feature with a 4th place finish from 6th but the car still felt off. After diagnosing the issue and making a few adjustments we picked up a ton of speed which lead to our win in the second Feature of the night. Huge thanks to my Father John Dryden, and Steve Garry.
